ANOTHER WIN FOR THE BRITISH DRIVER - Quotes updates

LUSAIL, QATAR – It’s a new track for the Formula 1 world. It seems to look like the cycle continue with the driver who finishes on pole also win the race. This week it’s Lewis Hamilton, seven times World Champion who, once again, won the Grand Prix. After a few races won by the deutchman Max Verstappen, the British driver took his place back. He closed the gap with his rival, thanks to his dominant victory.

« He’s totally in the zone… they woke up the lion », said Toto Wolf, Team Principal and co-owner of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team, about Hamilton. « They have woken up the lion on the Saturday in Interlagos. He’s absolutely on it, brutal and cold blooded. And this is the best in Lewis. We’ve seen it in the past, he’s right here. When adversity happens, it takes him to a place where he’s able to mobilise superhero powers, and it was the adversity that triggered that in Interlagos. »

The driver of the day is definitely the Spanish driver Fernando Alonso, who ends up in third position. It is his first podium since 2014. He really had to fight for this third place with the agressive second Red Bull’s car, Sergio Perez. Don’t forget that he just came back from a two years hiatus before this season. « It fells good, » he said of the podium. « It is obviously a long wait from the last podium, 2014, so I’m happy for this one, we executed a good race, a one-stop strategy. The car was great all weekend long. In qualifying the pace obviously helped to start at the front, also with the penalties of this morning. »

Lando Norris who started P4 now finishes p9 due to a puncture and a forced second stop. Daniel Riccardo finishes P12. Another bad weekend for the McLaren team. Only 4 points for the team in 3 races, that’s not what we were used to at the beginning of the season where Lando Norris was always in the points.

Sebastian Vettel takes the last points, letting Pierre Gasly drop from P2 to P11. His two-stop strategy didn’t work and then he suffered from mid-race tyres issues as did Williams’ George Russell and Nicholas Latifi – before Mercedes retired him.

Now, we only have two races to go, the drivers’ fight is still going and no one can predict what’s going to happen next. See you the first weekend of December in Saudi Arabia to see what’s going to follow. Can Max become a World Champion ? Or is Lewis goning to fight for his 8th title ? Two more races to answer our questions.
