WHAT’S NEXT ? Post-race Article

LUSAIL, QATAR – What a crazy weekend we just had. Only two races left for this 2021 season of Formula One. After 20 rounds, the battle for the title of World Champion has never been that intense. With only 8 points of difference, the two leaders of the Championship waged a fierce battle throughout the year. Now, still nobody can predict what’s going to happen, but, it is sure that if Max Verstappen finishes first and Hamilton 7 or less, the Deutchman will win his first ever championship.

Now, what can we expect on the 2022’s season ? As we know, there will be a lot of changes for next year. In first place, we will have some drivers’ changes for teams. Kimi Raikkonen is retirering at the end of this 2021’s season, George Russell is going to the Mercedes’ team, Alex Albon is coming back in Formula One by joining the Williams’ team. Giovinnazzi is going to e-sport and Guanyu Zhu is taking his place in Alfa Romeo, joined by Valterri Bottas. Zhu will be the first Chinese driver in the whole history of Formula One. For the other teams, the line up stays the same. Other big change for 2022 is the design of the car. This new one as be designed specifically to promote better racing. They want to allow closer racing. For example in Monaco, it’s almost impossible for now to overtake someone, with this new design, it is going to be possible. To be short, the whole design of the car has been re-think from A to Z.

We think in the redaction that those changes have been permitted by the fact that this sport had a regain of watchers during the pandemic thanks to the series on Netflix. Without this, the races started to be boring to a lot of people and the sport was almost dying. But with all of these new watchers, they had to make some changes to keep them attract. We’ll see what’s going to happen in March for the next season. But for now, will the King Lewis Hamilton lose his crown for the first time in eight years ? We’ll see on the final race on the 12th of December.
